Ginger Cockrell was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1986, after receiving her Juris Doctor from Birmingham School of Law (BSL). Ginger served as Treasurer for her BSL Senior Class. She was also a member of Sigma Delta Kappa law fraternity. Ginger also attended the University of Alabama where she majored in Public Relations and English. While at the Capstone, Ginger was involved with activities such as Alpha Delta Pi sorority, the Million Dollar Band, and University Concert Band. Prior to attending the University, Ginger graduated from Cullman High School. While in high school, Ginger was an honor student and played the flute and piccolo in the Cullman Bearcat Marching Band.
After college, Ginger worked in the District Attorney’s Office of Tuscaloosa for 4 years as an Assistant District Attorney for the Child Support Division. After ending her tenure at the District Attorney’s Office, Ginger began to establish her practice with Bob Cockrell where she strived to help others by specializing in bankruptcy law. Ginger’s dedication did not stop there, a few years later she became a certified mediator to help settle cases in a less controversial way.
Outside of her legal career, Ginger has served as Philanthropic Advisor for the Eta Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at the University of Alabama. Ginger also is a former member of the Zonta Club of Tuscaloosa. She was also a member of the Northport Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW) where she served as president. In 1995, Ginger was also chosen as the District BPW Young Careerist.
Currently, Ginger resides in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she focuses her practice in bankruptcy law. She formerly served as chairman of the Tuscaloosa County Bar Bankruptcy Section. Ginger attends the Northport Baptist Church (NBC) where she plays the flute in the NBC Celebration Orchestra. She is also a certified volunteer for the West Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross. She is married to Bob Cockrell and has two children, Bo and Caroline.
