Fatal Car Accidents in Bibb County
Bibb County, Alabama, has experienced a rise in fatal car accidents, with 20 fatal crashes reported in 2023, a 5% increase from the previous year. Factors such as high speeds, distracted driving, and the rural, winding roads contribute to these fatalities. Alabama’s road death rate of 1.6 fatalities per 100 million miles driven is consistent with trends in rural areas like Bibb, where emergency response times and road conditions also play a role.
In the case of a fatal accident, families may file a wrongful death lawsuit if negligence or intentional harm is involved. In Alabama, the personal representative of the deceased's estate, often a close family member, can pursue a claim for punitive damages and related costs such as funeral expenses and lost wages.
