Calhoun Co, AL (February 5, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian accident took place on Monday evening in Calhoun County, resulting in the death of a 61-year-old man. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on AL 202 near the 3-mile marker, roughly three miles west of Anniston.
The ALEA reports that Herbert M. Blair, a resident of Oxford, was walking on the roadway when he was struck by a 2016 Nissan Maxima. Following the initial impact, Blair was hit again by a 2017 Honda HR-V. Emergency medical crews were dispatched to the scene, but Blair was declared dead shortly after their arrival.
Authorities worked to clear the area and manage the scene, diverting traffic while conducting their investigation. Firefighters assisted in removing the vehicles from the site. The highway was cleared after several hours of extensive response efforts.
The ALEA's Highway Patrol Division is currently investigating the incident, though no additional information has been made public.
