Childersburg, AL – Fatal Crash Reported on Highway 280 near Wood Rd

Childersburg, AL (February 2, 2024) – A fatal motor vehicle accident reported in Talladega County claimed one person’s life. The incident occurred on January 31.

 

Reports provided by local news sources indicate that two vehicles collided on Highway 280. The incident prompted the response of Southeast Shelby Rescue, the Harpersville Fire Department, the Sylacauga Fire Department, the Childersburg Fire Department, and Sylacauga EMS. Authorities shut down the roadway near Wood Road as they provided assistance.

 

Three people were trapped in their vehicle as a result of the collision. One additional victim was ejected. One person involved in the crash sustained fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two of the victims were flown by helicopter to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Trauma Center. One additional victim was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center for emergency care. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
