Coosa County, AL (August 23, 2024) – A fatal car crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Coosa County, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old and injuries to two other individuals. The incident, reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), took place at approximately 1:10 p.m. at the intersection of US Route 231 and Coosa County 150, about five miles south of Sylacauga.

According to ALEA, the crash involved a 2003 Freightliner and a Nissan Altima driven by the 16-year-old. The Freightliner collided with the Altima at the said intersection, causing significant damage. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and, after assessing the situation, pronounced the 16-year-old driver dead. A 17-year-old passenger in the Altima and the 76-year-old driver of the Freightliner were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
