Jemison, AL – Calera Police Officer Seriously Injured in Crash on HWY 191

Jemison, AL (December 11, 2024) – A severe car accident occurred on Tuesday evening in Jemison, Alabama, involving a Calera police officer. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of HWY 191 and County Road 42 West, as reported by the Jemison Police Department.

According to authorities, the collision happened when a pickup truck struck a sedan at the intersection. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, prompting emergency responders from the Jemison Fire Department to assist with the extraction of the drivers. Firefighters worked diligently to safely remove both individuals from the wreckage.

The Calera police officer was transported to UAB Hospital in critical condition. The officer's identity has not yet been disclosed, and their injuries are still being assessed. The driver of the sedan was also taken to the hospital, but their condition remains unknown at this time.

Alabama State Troopers and local authorities responded to the scene, temporarily closing the road to allow emergency crews to operate. Traffic was rerouted, and the road remained closed for several hours while investigators and cleanup teams worked at the scene.

Our thoughts are with the Calera police officer, the driver of the sedan, and their families during this challenging time. We extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected by this tragic incident.
