Fatal Car Accidents in Alabama

Data surrounding motor vehicle accidents that took place in 2021 show that nearly 1,000 people lost their lives as a result of automobile collisions that took place across the state. Despite having numerous laws in place to ensure drivers do not engage in careless and reckless actions, we continue to see innocent people lose their lives as a result of drivers who do so.

There are countless instances where innocent people die as a result of drivers who are speeding. Speeding increases the likelihood of a driver losing control of their vehicle and crashing into another. Impairment, distractions, and failure to yield are some of the other leading causes of accidents. Unfortunately, driver error accounts for nearly 90 percent of collisions reported annually in the United States. Here in Alabama, these actions contribute to a significant number of injuries and fatal collisions. When drivers fail to maintain their vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, they place the lives of every single person sharing the road with them at risk.

The loss of a loved one in a vehicle crash is a devastating event, and it is important for families to know that there are legal options available for seeking justice. In Alabama, requesting punitive damages in fatal car crash cases can provide some form of accountability for the negligent driver responsible.
