Mobile, AL – Michael Ficke Dies in Car Crash at Airport Blvd & Azalea Rd

Mobile, AL (January 6, 2025) – A deadly car crash took place on Saturday, January 4, near the intersection of Airport Blvd and Azalea Rd, resulting in one fatality and one person injured. The Mobile Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Authorities reported that two cars were involved in the crash. Michael Ficke, 37, was a passenger in one of the cars when it collided with another car at the intersection. The crash caused severe damage, leaving both vehicles in hazardous positions on the roadway. Emergency teams, including Mobile Fire Rescue, responded promptly to assist with extricating individuals and securing the area.

Ficke was confirmed dead at the scene, while the driver sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. The area was immediately secured by police, and traffic was diverted to avoid additional accidents.

The Mobile Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. Authorities are working to determine whether speed or other factors played a role in the incident.
